SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – DocStock is pleased to announce the availability of the new DermLite App, a powerful digital dermoscopy platform designed to help clinicians capture, document, monitor and compare skin lesions more efficiently than ever before. Developed by DermLite in partnership with FotoFinder, the new application transforms compatible iPhones into professional dermoscopy imaging systems while streamlining lesion tracking and follow-up workflows.

The launch of the DermLite App represents a significant step forward in digital dermoscopy, providing clinicians with an integrated solution for image capture, lesion mapping, patient monitoring and longitudinal documentation. When used with compatible DermLite dermatoscopes, the app creates a seamless workflow that supports consistent imaging and more efficient follow-up assessments.

Designed for Modern Skin Cancer and Dermatology Practices

As skin cancer medicine and dermatology continue to embrace digital workflows, clinicians require tools that not only capture high-quality images but also facilitate accurate lesion tracking over time.

The DermLite App has been developed specifically around the needs of dermatologists, skin cancer doctors and general practitioners who perform regular lesion monitoring. The platform enables users to capture both clinical and dermoscopic images, accurately document lesion locations and return to the same site during future appointments for consistent comparison and assessment.

Key capabilities include:

  • Capture both clinical and dermoscopic images within a single workflow
  • Side-by-side image comparison for follow-up examinations
  • Lesion mapping on clinical overview photographs
  • Anatomical localisation using integrated body maps
  • Longitudinal monitoring of lesions and treatment outcomes
  • Fast and intuitive patient management workflows

Turn Your iPhone Into a Professional Dermoscopy Camera

The DermLite App has been purpose-built for use with DermLite dermatoscopes and compatible smartphone adapters.

Unlike generic medical photography applications, the software automatically calibrates camera settings according to the specific DermLite model being used. This optimisation helps ensure more consistent image quality, exposure and magnification between examinations, making lesion comparisons more reliable over time.

The result is a more standardised imaging process that supports accurate clinical documentation and improved reproducibility during follow-up visits.

Enhanced Functionality with the New DermLite DL5 Plus

The new DermLite App becomes even more powerful when paired with the latest DermLite DL5 Plus Dermatoscope.

Through Bluetooth connectivity, clinicians can wirelessly control compatible dermatoscope functions directly from the app. Lighting modes can be adjusted remotely, simplifying image acquisition and reducing interruptions during examinations. The app also introduces MultiShot functionality, allowing multiple dermoscopic images using different illumination modes to be captured with a single shutter press.

This capability enables clinicians to obtain a more comprehensive visual record of lesion structures while significantly reducing image capture time.

Built for Consistent Follow-Up and Lesion Monitoring

One of the greatest challenges in skin cancer surveillance is ensuring that follow-up images are captured under similar conditions to previous examinations.

The DermLite App addresses this challenge by allowing clinicians to overlay historical images during image acquisition, helping recreate previous photographic conditions and improving consistency between visits. Combined with lesion mapping and side-by-side comparison tools, this functionality supports more reliable monitoring of lesion evolution over time.

For practices involved in skin cancer surveillance programs, total body photography workflows or long-term lesion monitoring, these features can provide significant workflow and documentation advantages.

Secure Data Management and Cloud Connectivity

Recognising the importance of patient privacy and data security, the DermLite App has been designed with secure image management at its core.

Clinical images can be stored separately from a clinician's personal photo library, helping maintain appropriate separation between professional and personal data. The platform also supports integration with FotoFinder HUB, a secure cloud-based environment that allows clinicians to access images, organise cases, review patient records and generate reports from virtually any web browser.

These capabilities help practices move towards more efficient and organised digital dermoscopy workflows while maintaining control over patient information.

AI-Assisted Clinical Support

The DermLite App also supports integration with FotoFinder's AIMEE artificial intelligence platform, providing clinicians with access to optional AI-based lesion assessment tools.

Designed as a clinical decision-support resource, AIMEE can generate risk scores and analytical information from suitable dermoscopic images within seconds. While clinical responsibility always remains with the healthcare professional, these tools may provide an additional layer of support when assessing complex lesions.

Supporting the Complete DermLite Ecosystem

The introduction of the DermLite App further strengthens the DermLite ecosystem, which already includes industry-leading dermatoscopes such as the DL5 Plus, DL5, DL4 and DL200, together with a comprehensive range of smartphone adapters and imaging accessories.

By combining premium optical dermoscopy with advanced digital imaging and workflow tools, DermLite continues to provide clinicians with innovative solutions for skin cancer detection, lesion monitoring and dermatological assessment.
