Hillrom - Welch Allyn 3.5 V Pneumatic Otoscope with 4 Reusable Specula

The Welch Allyn 3.5V Pneumatic Otoscope is purpose-built for pneumatic otoscopy — the clinical technique used to assess tympanic membrane mobility and diagnose middle ear conditions including otitis media with effusion, acute otitis media and eustachian tube dysfunction. It is the standard pneumatic otoscope used in Australian GP clinics, ENT practices and paediatric settings.

The ultra-sealed rotating lens creates an airtight chamber when combined with a correctly sized specula, allowing the clinician to apply positive and negative pressure to the tympanic membrane via the insufflation port. This sealed system is what separates a pneumatic otoscope from a standard diagnostic otoscope — without it, pneumatic testing cannot be performed reliably. The rotating lens also provides unobstructed access to the ear canal for instrumentation without removing the otoscope head.

The Halogen HPX lamp delivers true tissue colour representation, which is critical for distinguishing between a normal pearly-grey tympanic membrane, the erythema of acute infection and the amber discolouration of effusion. Halogen provides consistent light output across the full battery cycle, avoiding the dimming that occurs with standard incandescent bulbs as batteries deplete.

Supplied with four reusable specula (2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm) covering paediatric through to adult ear canal sizes. Reusable specula can be autoclaved, boiled or chemically sterilised between patients. Disposable KleenSpec specula are also compatible and available separately in our otoscope accessories collection.

Requires a Welch Allyn 3.5V power handle (sold separately or as part of a diagnostic set).
